David K. DeWolf Appointed President-Elect of the Catholic Bar Association

SPOKANE VALLEY, Washington—The Catholic Bar Association (CBA) announced the unanimous appointment of David K. DeWolf as President-Elect, filling a vacancy left by the resignation of Dr. Charles R. Helms of Dallas, Texas, who remains an active member of the CBA’s Board of Directors and Chair of the Education Committee.

Washington’s leading expert on tort law—the law that applies to cases like medical malpractice, products liability, and motor vehicle accidents—Professor DeWolf, Professor Emeritus at Gonzaga Law School, now practices at Albrecht Law Firm. A founding member and advocate of the CBA, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. As a member of the Board since the October 2022 General Assembly, Professor DeWolf has proven himself to be an exceptional leader, serving as the Chair of the CBA’s Advocacy Committee.

His impressive academic background includes over thirty years of law school teaching.  He is a 1979 graduate of Yale Law School, a member since 1980 of the Washington State Bar member, and co-author of the book Washington Tort Law and Practice, Washington Contract Law and Practice, Washington Insurance Law, and other books in the Washington Practice series. Professor DeWolf and his wife Priscilla are members of Mary Queen Parish in Spokane.

Beyond his involvement with the CBA, Professor DeWolf contributes to the community through his past role on the Board of the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame and as a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture.
